End of the fourth week and IPL review is follow

Week 4 had begun with Rajasthan against Mumbai. RR won the toss and decided to invite MI to bat. RR had some great plans for MI. RR started a little late but when started they dint stopped they got first wicket on 22 and then they kept getting one by one on regular interval. MI perished on 94. Symonds was the top scorer with 17. J. Botha got 3 wickets and Menaria and Singh got 2 each.  RR faced little difficulty but managed later on. They lost Dravid soon but recovered it also. Botha and Watson played well to win the match. Botha scored 45 and Watson 26. RR won the match by 7 wickets. Botha was named Man of the Match.

2nd match of the week. Pune vs. Bangalore. Warriors won the toss and decided to field.RCB started well Gayle and Dilshan built the partnership of 57 runs then as Gayle and Dilshan got out for 49 and 15, Kohli and AB formed the partnership of 66 runs. Kohli scored 67 of 42 balls hitting 4 fours and 4 sixes. RCB ended on 181 for 5. PWI had a long way to go as the target 182 was too much for nay team. PWI started badly as they lost opener Pain for just 8. PWI never formed a good and long partnership, on regular interval PWI kept losing wickets. Ryder scored 51 but that dint helped as no other batsmen scored more than this. Captain Yuvi scored 41 but that was late. PWI finished on 155 for 5. RCB won the match by 26 runs. V. Kohli was named Man of the Match.

3rd match was between DD and KTK. DD won the toss and decided to bat first. In spite of losing 2 wickets for just 4 DD managed to score well because of Sehwag’s innings of 80 runs. Supported by Nagar (22) and Birt (20). DD scored 157 for 7. KTK started very badly as Morkel Pathan Van der marw and Agarkar were on fire. Morkel and Van der Marw got 3 wickets each and Pathan, Agarkar got 2 each. It was Hodge and Jadeja who tried to take the Match away from DD but they got failed to do so. Jadeja scored 31 and Hodge 27. KTK finished their innings on 119(10) DD won the game by 38 runs. Captain Sehwag was named Man of the match.

Kolkata vs. Punjab was the 4th match of the week. KKR won the toss and decided to field. Valthaty and Marsh both failed to give a good start as Valthaty and Marsh scored 7 & 5. Captain Gilly too went for just 26. It was Karthik only who stood at the other end and was getting some score but soon a misunderstanding and Karthik (42) was run out. KP ended on 119 for 6 after 20 over’s. KKR started by losing two early wickets Kallis (1) and Morgan (28), KKR were 35 for 2. Gambhir and Tiwary were the batsmen on crease, both the players remained unbeaten Gambhir scored 45 and Tiwary 34. KKR finished the match in 18 over itself, KKR were 120 for 2. They won the match by 8 wickets. Abdullah was named Man of the match.

Rajasthan and Pune were against each other in the 5th battle of the week. Warne decided to field after winning the toss. PWI again suffered with its start as Ryder got out for just 18. Pandey and Uthappa scored 30 and 35. This showed some usefulness to the team. PWI just managed to score 143 at the end of innings. In return RR faced some early damages but after losing 4 wickets for 92 R. Taylor and Rahane finished the game, and RR won the game by 6 wickets. Ross Taylor was named Man of the Match for his 47*.

Battle No. 6. Chennai vs. Hyderabad. Chennai won the toss and decided to bat first. Opener Vijay and Hussy were expected a good start and from other side Sangakkara was in hope to grab some early wickets. Sangakkara started well as hi got Vijay for just 3. It wasn’t over as Raina and Hussey built the partnership of 60 runs and answered back Sangakkara immediately. Hussey was out for 46 and Raina 59. CSK finished their innings on 165 for 5. DC started well as both the openers gave DC a decent start. 71 runs stand was not at all bad. Sohal scored 56 and soon Dhawan too got out on 19. After this DC were not able to get a good partnership and losing wickets one by one. DC ended on 146 for 8. CSK won the match by 19 runs. Morkel who took 3 wickets was named Man of the Match.

Mumbai was against Punjab in battle no. 7 of the week; Punjab won the toss and decided to field. Mumbai lost its opener Jacob for just 10 but that was nothing for them as Sachin and Rayadu were set on crease to teach KP a lesson. Sachin and Rayadu both scored 51 and were out. Leaving Mumbai at 129 for 3. MI finished on 159 for 5. Giving the target of 160 to KP. KP face a disastrous start as they lost their captain for DUCK! Soon Valthaty also departed. Marsh was the only batsman plating as all others were coming and going. Marsh scored 61 and 2nd was Valthaty (33). KP lost the match by 23 runs they were 136 for 8 at the end of the innings. KA Pollard was named Man of the Match for his quick 20 and 2 wickets.

Match No. 41 of IPL, Delhi vs. Kochi. KTK won the toss and decided to bat field. DD batting first didn’t start well as they kept losing wickets on regular interval. Rao was the top scorer with 40 of 36 balls with 5 fours. DD just managed to score 140 in their innings, which KTK without facing any problem chased it down. KTK won the match by 7 wickets, Patel and Hodge remained unbeaten on 37 and 24. R Parmeswaran was named Man of the match for his 2 wickets on his debut.

It was Deccan to take on Knight Riders in the 9th encounter of the week. DC won the toss and decided to field. KKR batting first fine and took the match throughout, Kallis and Gambhir scored 30 and 35 while Yusuf Pathan remained unbeaten on 47, and he was supported by Tiwary’s 33. KKR scored 169 and gave a good target of 170 to the Deccan’s. It wasn’t same for DC as after a good start DC started losing wickets. Losing their captain for DUCK never brought DC back in match. Dhawan was the only man to play for long. He scored 54 of 45 balls with 4 fours and a six. DC lost the match by 20 runs and ended their innings on 149 for 6. Yusuf Pathan was named Man of the Match for his unbeaten 47*.

Encounter No. 10, Rajasthan vs. Chennai. RR decided to bat first after winning the toss. They started well and opener Watson and Dravid took match finely. Soon as Watson got out, it was like everything was over for RR. After Watson no one helped Dravid built a good partnership. Dravid was out on 66. RR finished on 147 for 6. Chennai answered it well but lost opener Vijay for just 5 in the beginning. But Raina and Hussey took the match away with 137 runs partnership between them. Hussey scored 71 and Raina 61. CSK won the match by 8 wickets as Raina was out on 145. Hussey was named Man of the match for his unbeaten 71.

Match No. 44 of the DLF IPL 2011. Sachin Tendulkar vs. Yuvraj Singh. Yuvi won the toss and asked Sachin to bat first. Sachin’s men begin badly and remained moderate till end. Score board was shared by all batsmen, Top scorer was T. Suman (36) followed  by Keron Pollard (28). MI scored a total of 160 in their innings. PW in return begun with a wicket and then never recovered. PWI kept on losing wickets and from one end it was Pandey who was standing for the team, his 59 went in vain when team finished on 139 for 7. MI won the match by 21 runs. R. Sharma was named Man of the Match for his 2 wickets spell.

2nd last match of the week, hot favorites KKR vs. KTK.  KKR won the toss and asked KTK to bat first. KTK were disappointed by their opener again as McCullum got out for just 1, it was Klinger and Jayawardane who built 50 runs partnership after Patel got out. Jayawardane scored classic 55 and was run out. KTK finished on 156 for 5. KKR started with clear intensions of winning and went well. But as the openers departed team perished like playing cards. It was Kallis who scored 45 and Morgan 66. No other batsmen played or scored more than 20 runs. KKR collapsed on 139. KTK won the match by 19 runs. Hodge was named Man of the Match for his fast 35 not out.

Last match of the week. Delhi vs. Hyderabad. DD won the toss and asked DC to bat first. DD started well by removing opener Teja for just 2. Soon Dhawan too got out for 28. Captain Sangakkara nad Duminy formed a good partnership and brought DC back in match. Kumar scored 44 and Duminy got out on 55. DC finished on 175 for 5. DD faced a bad start too as their opener Finch got out for DUCK! Soon DD were 25 for 3. But Sehwag was unstoppable He was on and on. DD went 86 for 4. Sehwag was on fire, he scored 119 runs of 56 balls with 13 fours and 6 sixes. He was helped by Pathans 12 and Hopes 17. DD won the match by 4 wickets with 6 balls to spare. Sehwag was named Man of the Match for his Striking 100.
