End of the fourth week of world cup but quarter finalist not yet decided from Group B…

Fourth week begin with big match between India and South Africa… A must win match for Africans… After the defeat against England… India batting first gave a great start to India… It was fine till Sehwag and Sachin were playing as Sehwag went things started going bad…slowly slowly run rate started to fell… India in spite of having a great start whole team got out for just 296… It was only Sachin whose century helped India to reach this stage… South Africa started slowly n steadily although they lost their wickets in times when a good partnership use to get start… At the end South Africa managed to win the match with 3 wickets hitting last 13 runs in last over with 2 balls to spare…

It was Canada and New Zealand to begin with the second match of 4th week of CWC… Canada winning the toss elected to field first… But the decision went wrong as New Zealand Batted great through out the innings… New Zealand made 358 which included a century from opener Brendon McCullum and good supporting Half Century from Ross Taylor… In return Canada failed to give a good start to their team and got out as soon as the innings started… It was captain Bagai and Cheema who tried to get Canada back in match both hitting half centuries… But no one after this both stayed at the crease to bat well Canada finished their innings on 261 for 9 and lost the match… Brendon McCullum was named Man of the Match…

Same day it was Aussies to take on Kenya… Aussies won the toss and chose to bat… Australia made 324 through out their innings… Three players shined for the team… It was Wicket keeper Haddin who made 65, Emerging captain Clarke who was out on 93 and Hussey making 54 gave a classic come back to his team… In return Kenya started very bad and it rarely got chance to recover as run rate kept on increasing over by over… But the partnership between Obuya n Mishra gave some hope to the team both made 98* and 72…  But after them it was all very late… Kenya finished their innings 214 for 6 and lost by 60 runs… Micheal Clarke was named Man of the Match.

Now from group B it was Bangladesh to take on Netherlands…  It was Netherlands who won the toss and decided to bat first… The decision seemed to be wrong as they started slowly and kept losing wicket on intervals… Netherlands could never recover they got out for 160… Bangladesh had no difficulty in chasing a target like this… But they lost their opener in first over itself… Tamim was out for duck… But It was not a problem for Bangladesh they slowly recovered and reached the target and won the match by 6 wickets…

33rd match of the world cup was between Pakistan and Zimbabwe… Zimbabwe batting first scored 151 for 7 in their 38 over’s… (Match was reduced to 38 over’s bcoz of rain) Pakistan got the target of 162 as D/L method… Pakistan has no hesitations in chasing so… Pakistan chased it very well with very good fifty of Asad Shafiq 78*…

South Africa VS Ireland was now on… It was Porterfield who won the toss and choose to field to first… Ireland bowled well in beginning and kept Africans in pressure… But it was never late, Duminy’s 99 saved S.A from the worst situation brought them to a good score 272… In return Ireland was never able to get settle for their team… they all got out for 131… S.A won that match by 141 runs…

Canada was to play its last match of the tournament with Australia… Canada winning the toss choose to bat first… They started well but it wasn’t for long soon their wickets started perishing one by one… Canadians were all out for just 211… Australia had got one of the smallest targets in their cricketing history… Chasing a target like this was not difficult for Australia… They began it nicely their openers made a good half centuries Watson 94 and Haddin 88 at the end Clarke and White finished the matches scoring 16 and 4 not out… Australia won the match by 7 wickets…

8th match was between West Indies and England… This match was Imp not for England and West Indies but also for Bangladesh and India… If West Indies wins then not only Indies but India and Bangladesh will also qualify for the quarters… England won the toss and choose to bat first… England failed to have good start… Their openers again disappointed the side…  But Trotts 47 and Lukes 44 helped England to score 243… In return West Indies started beautifully they scored above the average but wickets dint support them on perfect interval… West Indies were about to win but Tredwells fine bowling kept England’s hopes alive in the WC 2011…

It was the last day of the fourth week Ireland was to take on Netherlands… The match was not at all imp for any team of world cup as these both were out of world cup now… Netherlands batting first scored 306 in their 50 over’s… Ryan again got a great century supported by good 44 of Barresi and 84 from Captain Peter… In return Ireland strong opening partnership of 177 made target seem very easy… It was Stirlings century and good half centuries by captain 68 and wicket keeper Niel 57 helped Ireland winning the match by 6 wickets…

Last match of the week was to be played at Mumbai… It was Sri Lanka against New Zealand… Sri Lanka batted first… Sri Lanka had not got a good start they lost their both the openers for just 19… But Sri Lanka’s two walls helped getting them a good score… It was captain Sangakkara and Jayawardane who built a partnership of 145 and brought Sri Lanka in a good position… Jayawardane departed after scoring useful 66 runs and captain too departed soon after getting his century he was out on 111… after them again wickets started to fall… only Mathews from one side was their for Sri Lanka who was getting scores for them… With the help of 41* of Mathews Sri Lanka managed to score 265 in their 50 over’s… In return New Zealand failed to achieve one of the small target of WC2011… no batsmen remained on the crease and batted well one by one Muralidharan got wickets he ended with 4 wickets in his 8 over spell… Ross taylor was the highest run scorer with 33… No other batsmen played well… They were all out for just 153 Sri Lanka won the 112 runs…
